Day 37 | The Persecuted Church

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. Hebrews 13:3

At the time of writing this, the United States is engaged in a military conflict with Iran. If you watch the news, you probably know that the Iranian government is an oppressive regime, known for its persecution of Christians (particularly those who convert to Christianity from Islam). What you might not know is that Iran is also home to one of the fastest-growing Christian movements in the world.

It’s hard for us to comprehend here in the West, but many of our Christian brothers and sisters around the world live in persecution—unable to openly gather in public as their primary allegiance to King Jesus puts them at odds with the culture and society they find themselves in.

Today we pray that the Lord would strengthen and sustain them as they follow Jesus in hard places—and as we do so, may our faith be strengthened by their courageous example.

Prayer prompt: Pray for persecuted Christians around the world.
