Day 17 | Reconciliation

So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23–24

We’re learning a lot about autoimmune diseases in our household right now. If you’re not as familiar, an autoimmune disease is when the immune system mistakenly identifies other parts of the body as threats and begins to attack those areas. As a result, the whole body suffers.

Human anatomy and biology aren’t the only places where a body turns inward and attacks itself. Unfortunately, this also happens in the body of Christ. When one member of the body betrays, insults, slanders, or wrongs another member of the body, the whole church suffers.

Is there anyone in our church body that you have wronged? Has another member of the body harmed you in some way with their actions or words? If so, let’s ask the Lord to heal that place in us and then give us the humility to ask for forgiveness or the courage to lovingly confront so that we might be reconciled to one another.

Prayer prompt: Pray for reconciliation where church relationships are strained.
