Day 13 | The Lonely

Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land. Psalm 68:5–6
One of our core values is at Heartland City is that we grow together as a family. It’s a beautiful picture of what the church should be—a group of spiritual brothers and sisters growing in relationship with one another as we grow in our relationship with the Lord.
But the reality is that, even as a family seeking to grow together, there are people around us every Sunday who can easily feel overlooked and alone, even in a crowd of people—the widow or widower who still silently grieves the loss of their spouse, the single parent who is exhausted from trying to keep all the plates spinning, the single man or woman who goes home to an empty house every day.
As a church striving to grow together as a family, let’s pray for those who feel overlooked and alone, and while we’re at it, let’s pray that the Lord would help us to notice and care for them.
Prayer prompt: Pray for singles, widows, and those who feel overlooked or alone.
