Day 12 | Relationships

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Colossians 3:13
When you buy a new picture frame it almost always contains a stock family photo. You know what I’m talking about—the one with the perfectly polished, well put-together family where everyone is smiling and seems to be thoroughly enjoying one another.
But you and I both know that isn’t most families—at least not all the time. Because of our sin, we all bring some measure of brokenness into our relationships, which means our relationships often end up broken in their own ways. Do you have any broken or strained relationships in your family? Is there coldness and distance between you and your spouse? Is there tension between you and a wayward teenager? Does a peaceful conversation with your parents feel impossible?
Relationships can be hard at times, but they are never beyond the healing hand of the Lord. Let’s ask him to work in those relationships today.
Prayer prompt: Pray for strained or broken family relationships.
